Sandra uses a "whole person approach" when taking care of her patients. She combines the very best evaluation methods and hands-on-techniques with state of the art rehabilitation and physiotherapy procedures. This enables Sandra to help you to accelerate and/or maintain your journey to great health.
Throughout her career Sandra has always wanted to be able to help people. She initially completed her psychology degree and went on to work within the Criminal Justice System of NSW with the intent of being able to help with the rehabilitation of people. It was during her time with the NSW Criminal System that she had an accident at work and injured her lower back. She went to the doctor and was given pain medication and advised to see a physiotherapist and acupuncturist. She followed the doctor's advice and after weeks of no improvement, she decided to follow the advice of a colleague and went and saw a Chiropractor. Within a week of seeing the Chiropractor she was able to move more freely and was in less pain. In following the treatment plan set by the Chiropractor she was pain free within one month.
Having come to a loss in her ability to help within the NSW Criminal Justice system due to the restrictiveness of the system, Sandra decided to change to a career in which she would be able to help people. She had the choice of undertaking study to become a doctor or to become a Chiropractor. Given the benefit she had obtained through Chiropractic versus the medical system, she decided to study chiropractic and has not looked back.
Sandra has continued to increase her repetitore of treatment methods through her post-graduate studies. She has undertaken additional study in Active Release Technique, Rocktaping and is an avid follower of the anatomy train philosophy. She continues to seek and undertake courses which enable her to provide the best possible treatment for her clients.
At her Morningside clinic Sandra uses soft tissue techniques (Active Release Technique, Myofascial Release, Trigger Point Release), Rocktaping, Selective Functional Movement Assessment, Cold Laser Treatment and methods which assist in improving the communication of the nervous system with the body (neuromuscular reeducation and analysis and treatment methods of Vladmir Janda M.D.). Sandra loves teaching clients simple rehabilitative stretches and exercises (basic movements) to help in correcting their posture and problems. This enables clients post-injury or with long term chronic problems to be helped to a greater extent than by just adjusting them and using physical therapy modalities.
Sandra believes that great health is our natural birthright and is achievable for most people. She encourages people to become and stay healthy through a healthy lifestyle which includes chiropractic, good nutrition, exercise and movement, and most importantly a positive mental attitude. Having fun is a very important part of life.
When Sandra is not helping her clients to become painfree and healthy, she is living the same philosophy. She enjoys concocting different green smoothie recipes, spending time with her family and undertaking differing activities which range from cycling to snorkeling to pilates.
